Clear Aligners

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are plastic mouth trays worn over the teeth to gradually shift their position. It is removable, allowing patients to practice proper oral hygiene. They are very popular with adult patients because they are made from smooth, clear, BPA-free plastic.

Advantages of Clear Aligners

No metal wires or brackets

Clear aligners are made from a clear plastic tray virtually invisible when worn.

Easier to maintain good oral hygiene

Clear aligners are removable, making it easier to brush and floss the teeth.

Eat what you want

With clear aligners, the patient does not have to worry about food or diet restrictions. They can eat every type of food they love without worrying about breaking the brackets or wires which form traditional braces.

Fewer visits required

Clear aligners require fewer visits to the dentist than braces. The dentist will check the teeth to make sure they progress correctly during the checkup.

Fewer emergency visits

One benefit of clear aligners is fewer emergency visits to the dentist, unlike traditional braces.

Procedure for Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are custom-made to fit the mouth. The dentist will take x-rays and impressions of the teeth to begin the treatment. These will be used to create clear aligners. Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks. They apply pressure to the teeth, moving them into position. After two weeks, the patient has to switch to the next set of aligners.

The treatment period for each patient varies according to their unique dental measurements. To attain the results, the patient should wear the aligners for at least 22 hours a day.

After you get your clear aligners, it is essential to care for them. It is removable, so it is vital to clean them regularly. Remove the aligners before eating or drinking. Brush and floss your teeth before reinserting the aligners. Brush the aligners gently with a soft-bristled toothbrush and toothpaste. Avoid using hot water, as this may distort the aligners.

If your aligners have visible plaque or debris, soak them in denture cleaner or diluted mouthwash for 15 minutes.
