Clear Aligners

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are plastic mouth trays worn over the teeth to shift their position gradually. They are removable, allowing patients to maintain proper oral hygiene during treatment. They are very popular with adult patients and teenagers because they are almost invisible and made from smooth, clear, BPA-free plastic that is more comfortable.

Advantages of Clear Aligners

No metal wires or brackets

Clear aligners are made from clear plastic and are virtually invisible when worn.

Easier to maintain good oral hygiene

Clear aligners are removable, making it easier to brush and floss the teeth.

Eat what you want

With clear aligners, the patient does not have to worry about food or diet restrictions. They can eat every type of food they love without worrying about brackets or wires.

Fewer dental visits

Clear aligners require fewer visits to the dentist than braces. The dentist will only check the teeth to ensure they progress correctly during regular checkups.

Fewer risks

With traditional braces, there is a higher risk of injury because of their metal parts. With clear aligners, there are no such risks.

Procedure for Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are custom-made to fit the patient’s teeth. The dentist takes X-rays and impressions of the teeth before beginning the treatment. They are used to manufacture the clear aligners and plan the treatment phases. Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks. They apply pressure to the teeth, moving them into position. After two weeks, the patient has to switch to the next set of aligners.

The treatment period for each patient varies according to their unique dental measurements. To attain the desired results, the patient should wear the aligners for at least 22 hours a day.

Aftercare

After you get your clear aligners, it is essential to care for them. They are removable, so it is vital to clean them regularly. Remove the aligners before eating or drinking. Brush and floss your teeth before reinserting the aligners. Brush the aligners gently with a soft-bristled toothbrush and toothpaste. Avoid using hot water, as this may distort the aligners.

If your aligners have visible plaque or debris, soak them in denture cleaner or diluted mouthwash for 15 minutes.
